A/Prof Caroline Dowling

MBBS, MS, MLdrshp, FRACS (Urol)

A/Prof Caroline Dowling is a urologist with a subspecialty interest in female pelvic floor medicine and reconstructive surgery. She has held leadership roles as a Clinical Director of Urology at Eastern Health and now is the Co-Director of the Medical Student Programs for Monash and Deakin universities. She completed her Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Urology in Victoria and then a sub-specialty fellowship at The Royal Melbourne Hospital in Neuro-urology and Continence and a further fellowship year in the Department of Urogynaecology at Monash Health

She has a busy private practice in the inner eastern suburbs and sees general urological conditions such as stones, haematuria and lower urinary tract symptoms in men and women along with her subspecialty interests in urodynamic studies and the surgical management of incontinence. She is passionate about shared decision making in the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence.

A/Prof Dowling is active in teaching at all career levels, and as a Palawa woman is a keen member of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee. She is active in clinical research and editorial review and the development of the urological specialty through advocacy, publication and peer support.
