Simon Jakobovits is a Melbourne based Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with a clinical interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) - Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Whilst Dr Jakobovits investigates and treats all general gastroenterological complaints, he specialises in supporting sufferers of IBD to manage this lifelong illness. To reach a broad base of sufferers, Simon combines public practice at The Alfred Hospital where he visits with a private Gastroenterology practice at Cabrini Medical Centre. He also offers endoscopy services at centres in Melbourne’s Western suburbs. Uninsured patients who are seen in his private rooms can be wait listed for endoscopic procedures at the Alfred Hospital.
In addition to treating and healing individuals, Dr Jakobovits also dedicates time to teaching the next generation of health care professionals. He is involved in teaching students of the Monash University Medical School at the Alfred Hospital and Cabrini Hospital and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Monash University and a Lecturer at Latrobe University.
Dr Jakobovits completed physician training at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. He undertook Gastroenterology training at the Western Hospital, Footscray Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne. He subsequently undertook a research and clinical fellowship in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases at the John Radcliff Hospital in Oxford, UK.
