Mr Philip Jumeau MBBS (Hons) FRACS is an Australian trained and qualified Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) and Head and Neck Surgeon. Mr Jumeau was born and schooled in Victoria and went on to study medicine at Monash University graduating with honours in 1996. He went on to train in ENT surgery rotating through many hospitals during his advanced training and qualified as a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons as an ENT, Head and Neck Surgeon in 2005.
Mr Jumeau’s specific area of interest and significant experience is in rhinology and specifically rhinoplasty surgery. This may be for cosmetic or functional reasons (often both). A large roportion of his work involves complex revision nasal reconstructive work in people who have had previously unsuccessful surgery or significant nasal trauma. Mr Jumeau is very active academically in this area attending international conferences each year and regular rhinoplasty teaching commitments.
Mr Jumeau worked in both public and private practice in ENT, Head and Neck Surgery for 14 years in Cairns, North Queensland as the primary provider of ENT services to the region. This strong background in rural generalist ENT surgery garnered excellent experience in otology (ear), rhinology (nasal airway and sinus surgery) and paediatric ENT surgery.
Mr Jumeau has also had an official consultant appointment at Monash Health (Victoria) for the past seven years where he would work and teach in the field of rhinoplasty. This provided the professional stimulation of working in a large tertiary surgical unit, maintained strong links to his peers, academic upkeep and the enjoyment of being involved in the teaching of advanced ENT surgical trainees.
Over the past 3 years, Mr Jumeau has had the pleasure of working regularly with Professor Anthony Holmes (Craniofacial Surgeon, Royal Childrens’ Hospital) with whom he shares a passion and structural philosophy for rhinoplasty/ complex nasal reconstruction. It was upon Mr Jumeau’s decision to return full time to Melbourne from Cairns (Commencing Feb 2019) that Professor Holmes offered for him to join his private practice. Mr Jumeau’s personal areas of interest are mountain biking, motorsports, fitness, snow sports, food and travel. He loves construction and a good project.
